Keio University in Tokyo and Toshiba have unveiled a prototype product 1TB SSD memory is sized just for postage. The team is headed by Professor Tadahiro Kuroda and claimed to have found a technology that can shrink the size of SSD by 90% with increasing efficiency up to 70%.

This prototype using 128 pieces of NAND flash memory chips and one controller chip. Transfer speed, too fast, to reach 2Gbps. The team is hoping SSD version will come ready produksai years later in 2012. The announcement was very encouraging for increasing interest on the use of SSD products, since SSD is still unable to compete with the media as a hard disk storage that is widely used on PCs and laptops today.
